a guest blog from glassybaby creative director, marissa brooks
i am excited to announce that our second bay-area location opened its doors in the stanford shopping center this wednesday morning!
like any project, this took a little bit longer than we anticipated. we arrived last thursday and weren’t quite sure what to expect. after six days and countless hours of painting, lifting, sweeping and patiently waiting, we were finally done.
although this is a temporary space (our permanent space is slated to open in fall 2015), one must always remember that you only get one chance to make a first impression. our approach to this location was to bring in the clean and simple aesthetic of our other glassybaby stores while coming up with a creative solution to highlight one of the key aspects of what makes glassybaby so unique, the hot shop.
below is photo collection of our journey. it might not have started out so pretty, but we are thrilled with the final result. we hope you will be too 🙂
day one (thursday). demolition and decision making. eek!
day two & three. (friday/saturday). walls sanded and painted (lots of sneezing). kiosk placed. facade installed. lucite shelves hung.
day four (sunday). resting & waiting.
day five (monday). furry friends met. 4′ x 9′ black & white panels installed.
day six (tuesday). shelves built (thank you matthew and billy!). glassybaby/drinkers inserted. tables installed. our first customer! (thanks jared!).
opening day (wednesday). the doors are officially open. yippee!!
this store marks tracy and my fourth store opening together (three of which were in the last year, yikes!). we send our love and gratitude to everyone who helped make this possible (crystal, todd, chris, troy, arturo and matthew)!
