Yesterday was the first day of summer, hallelujah. Our summer glassybaby palette will arrive imminently...with new colors including carrot, creamsicle, calgon and many more. If you are thinking ahead to the 4th of July think regal, dream and ferrari red, they are a smashing combination...especially next to a blueberry strawberry pie with whip cream.
One of our customers is celebrating her 40th birthday in style....she's booked a lounge singer, Harvest Vine will cater the evening and glassybaby will glow in ferrari red, new fern, black beauty, sheer cream, grandma jane's caramel and bedford brown.
Another great store moment - a customer came in to buy 35 glassybaby. She was having a memorial for her mom. Her mother wanted a beautiful party to be made in her remembrance. Every family member took away one glassybaby to remind them of a great life.
There's a nice shot of glassybaby in the July issue of House & Garden magazine - page 36, to be exact! Senior Style Editor Melissa Feldman included our votives in a two page spread on outdoor entertaining.
We survived the seconds sale! It was to begin at 10 a.m. sharp. At 9
a.m., a 'string of pearls' - our loyal glassybaby customers - had begun to line
the NE 72nd block (and it was a big block.). We had a fantastic day. After
customers dutifully waited in the labyrinthine line, they arrived at the front
of the line with smiles and last minute choices. We so appreciate the sweet,
understanding of our wonderful customers that day. We hope you love your 'seconds'...they
have amazing personality.
Onto customer tidbits. A gentleman came in last week and through our
chatting I learned that he has been married for 45 years. He and his wife have
11 marvelous grown children. Before they set out on a three month sojourn to Alaska in their RV, he
will hide the glassybaby he bought his wife as a surprise birthday present,
somewhere in the RV. The color he chose, was of course, True Love. More soon.
One of our wonderful customers...Nancy Anderson...celebrated her 50th
birthday surrounded by the things she loves most.... her family and friends,
artwork by Martino Hoss, and 50 glassybaby. She graciously shared her photos
