A wonderful gentleman named Mike discovered glassybaby listening to the KUOW radio piece; which like a divining rod led him to our store. His debut purchase?...True White for his daughter. We had a great conversation. He articulated to me that the store experience, glassybaby and the myriad colors. combine to create a transcendental experience. Wow...what a compliment. He has returned to the store a few times and recently said to me that his imagination is absolutely captured by matching glassybaby color to his friends and family.
From transcending to descending. I love this. Two young boys, brothers, and their mom, came to our store on the 'glassybaby express.' They descended the three steps leading to our 'China Baby' sale. The boys carefully chose two green...then, with allowance money, laid down the cash at the register...eight dollars and 16 cents each...for their first glassybaby purchase (so much for penny candy.)
Endnote...yesterday, nearing 5 o'clock, a dashing gentleman whisked into our store. He deliberated over many glassybaby, expertly lining them up in the classic 'comparison queue.' He lit them and astutely asked me: "Do you have a Mud that glows really well?" We found a stunner that will fit in his wife's growing glassybaby palette. He explained that he was going on a business trip for one night...he was leaving the glassybaby as a gift for the wife he adores.
