The Mothers Day orders have well begun. It is so sweet. Many are from husbands buying for the mothers of their children. Purple seems to be thematic...Iris, Prom Dress, Easter, Hydrangea. Something maternal is associated with purple.
Since settling in to Madrona, I have found that the wonderful store anecdotes have made the transition with us. Two recent 'favs'.... An email said something to this effect: 'I received my first glassybaby and stayed up really late staring at it.' An in store exchange was wonderful just yesterday. A customer came in...her mission?...to purchase a glassybaby for her dear friend who just gave birth to her fourth daughter (bless her soul.) We discussed color ideas. The desire was to find the perfect color with the added value of the perfect name. We pondered together. First considered was 'Taffy'...a powder pink...so little girly...however, she wanted a better name. We really giggled over the possibility of 'Milk.' Then, upon further perusal and a lighting session she walked up with a 'Calm Sea'...a dusky, oceanic blue with an evocative name. I love her choice.
Lastly...we are overjoyed to join The University Village in an effort to raise funds for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. The concept is marvelous. One weekend in May (the 18th through the 20th) shoppers at the Village can "shop to make a difference." We will take part by hoisting a tent...just like we did over the Christmas holiday... ten percent of all purchases of glassybaby will be donated to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. We will keep you posted on this.
Kiss your Mom...Until next time, Nicola
