Our wonderful, intrepid, owner Lee is in New York on what we are referring to as a press junket. (My curiosity about the word junket digressed my attention to Dictionary.com. Who knew?...besides "an excursion," junket also means: "a sweet custard-like food of flavored milk curdled with rennet. Interesting.) Excitement swells here as Lee's itinerary includes interviews with the New York Times Magazine, W Magazine, Town and Country Magazine, as well as a filmed interview with Plum T.V. in East Hampton. We are thrilled by the prospect of new exposure and new turf. I will keep you posted. Please keep me posted if any of you wonderful readers have ever eaten junket.
Picture this... our doors wide open on the most gorgeous June morning, 30 minutes later...4 wonderful customers, arms loaded, streaming into our store to prepare their surprise birthday celebration for their great friend Kelly right in the midst of our store...we were honored. We hauled out the Costco banquet table from our shipping area. A tablecloth, imported by the friends, unfurled. We rolled up the garage door so that the ladies could gather right at the border of our store. Crostini, Cheese, chocolate dipped strawberries and crisp white wine were laid out on the table. Kelly arrived surprised by the glassybaby fete to celebrate her birthday. It was so sweet. Every time I sashayed by, the conversation was lively, celebration was on. And to round out their sweet event...all the women shopped for glassybaby. Happy Birthday Kelly.
One utter joy of landing in our new Madrona home is meeting our neighbors. We are enveloped by an amazing community. Jenny and her son Spencer have been frequent fliers to our store, and what a pleasure to know them. On their latest visit they shared the most beautiful found treasure with me. In a box with tissue paper carefully wadded...there lay a gorgeous little newly cracked robin egg. We held it up to our shelf to find a glassybaby color match...it was somewhere between Little Roy Blue and, surprisingly, Aqua Verde. We decided this beautiful blue should join the glassybaby color wheel...Jenny and Spencer said they would be happy to loan us the egg for R and D. Charming.
Until Next Time, Nicola
