A keen glassybaby shopping technique...bring in props for choosing color. A recent parade of objects have come through our store. Here is the charming lineup:
* a hand blown glass apple...brilliant green
* a dinner plate with a banana and lime motif
* a small red bathroom cabinet (which I learned sits next to a Renoir print of roses)
* and lastly (I have to admit my favorite) a smallish wall hanging...a hand hooked shag rug...of a mermaid
Another in store anecdote...Mindy Green visited us three days in a row, twice with her daughter, on a sweet mission to choose glassybaby for the daughter's batmitzvah in December. ( I am so impressed by the magnitude of their organization...planning for a December Batmitzvah in July?...impressive.) They spent so much time and concentration on their color choices...it warmed my heart. Eventually a total of 14 colors were chosen. They will be incorporated into the Batmitzvah ceremony. Family and friends will light them. They chose a sea of color. It will be meaningful and gorgeous.
Jeanine our wonderful Operations Manager conveyed a great in store experience...a customer came in ...indulged in careful color perusal...including a lighting session. She ecstatically and definitively decided upon a Big Sky glassybaby. This customer's name?...Kirby Larson. She is the recent author of a novel for young adults...her book is entitled : Hattie Big Sky. Check out her website: www.kirbylarson.com. It is wonderful. And the author is a Newberry Book Award honoree.
Happy Summer. I am writing this installment from an outpost...my sister and brother in law's country home, where there is a symphony of aspen leaves fluttering, the river's song and thankfully the beautiful sound of a light breeze.
Until Next Time, Nicola
