The new website has launched. If you have found this blog you have navigated the new site. We would love any feedback that you might have. My personal favorite...the glassblower profiles...they are so charming, amazing and not surprisingly...creative. Have a gander at the fabric of glassybaby...our glassblowers. If you have children, scroll to the kids blog...therein lies a seminal kid opportunity...to win a glassybaby. All that the contest requires is a little imagination and an email. Start your engines kids...we anxiously await your entries. Good luck. (Mom might even help you pick a color.)
Onto other news and more glssybaby fabric. I had the pleasure of meeting two marvelous women this week. Their story...incredible and as I jotted notes...they just kept ratcheting up the 'incredible factor.' Errin and Antoinette (wonderful names) were celebrating a 10 year reunion. They were shipmates aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln from 1994-1997. Both women enlisted in the Marines at age 18...served on board the USS Abraham as electricians...and hold at least 2 esteemed honors:
1. They were among the first women in the history of the United States to be stationed on a combatant ship.
2. They are both veterans of the Persian Gulf War era.
Wow...beyond their military careers, they have continued to achieve great things. Errin consults for both Reel Networks and Microsoft and Antoinette manages not one but two nightclubs in Las Vegas. They both poignantly purchased a Deep Sea glassybaby...making a simultaneous covenant to purchase a new glassybaby whenever they reunite in Seattle. We are honored.
Another poignancy came via email. I convey it with the author/father's permission:
"You know, I have purchased four glassybaby in the year since I saw your site in Coastal Living. I read every email and appreciate them. I now have a request. I have a Marine son deployed. I would like to give a Khaki glassybaby to his mom. I know that it would be lit every night until he returns home safely...Any chance?
We are so touched by this query. We suggested a few colors that are inherently Khaki. However, more than a color recommendation we join in the collective Khaki vigil.
Until Next Time, Nicola
