Yesterday we had a lovely ladies luncheon. I have never seen so many kool jean/high heel pairings in all of my life. A dear customer, Diane, spearheaded the event. She invited 8 guests, one celebrating a milestone birthday. They borrowed two of our 8 foot banquet tables, one for their lunch, the other for their 'catered' Thai buffet. They placed themselves a comfortable yet exciting distance from our glassblowers, just outside of our retail space, under what I call our I.M. Pei skylight (an absurd yet amusing incantation of the Louvre's addition.) There were gorgeous cream linens, tennis themed party favors and glassybaby lined the middle of the table all aglow. I love this detail...the hostess brought a swatch of fabric showing the palette of the birthday friend's remodeled/redecorated living room. We were able to cull a garden of glassybaby color to match. At the end of their meal, each guest bought the birthday girl one of the colors, a very stylish detail to their event. The colors included: dijon, great oak, halo, jeffery, jade, creme brulee, jane's caramel, ferrari red and autumn. Gorgeous. This swatch, come centerpiece, come gift, impressed me, the depth of such thoughtful organization...wow.
The hearthstone of my holiday was to gather with my family...not a soul missing. We watched little girls receive stockings from Santa, we celebrated my father's 80 years and we also witnessed the absolute masterpiece of an igloo (see image above) built by my brother in law with the help of his big kids. It was complete with windows made by freezing shallow water in a frying pan. Lit, vintage glassybaby, were placed in the windows (my sis is a lifetime shareholder of glassybaby.) Seven big, medium and small papooses combined, fell asleep in mummy bags by the light of glassybaby... in an igloo, in the mountains.
glassybaby business idea #1 for the year 2009? Offer igloo, winter, vacation packages on the Methow River with glassybaby lighting. hmmmm
Endnote...this wonderful note was attached to a web order. A beautiful testimonial that struck a chord with us:
"...I wanted an excuse to get you these. Light them every night. We do in our house and they make everything seem like a celabration. They are my favorite material possession! They are hand blown in Seattle. Enjoy!"
Until Next Time, Nicola

Any pictures from the igloo w/the glassybabys and the birthday luncheon party?

I agree with the Web note! I had a friend over for dinner last night and I lit my Glassy Babies - she said that it was like having a fire on the table. The entire room glowed! On that note, I have a question. I have a group of reds and need a few darks in the mix. I borrowed a friend's G.Baby "Jolly" and it seems to ground the grouping. But, you don't have "jolly" anymore on your website. What dark red to you recommend? Many thanks from San Francisco.
