glassybaby arithmetic #1...a day celebrating St. Patrick (March 17th) plus a day welcoming Spring (March 20th,) all in the same week, equals spring green glassybaby. My wonderful Scottish mother in law, visiting us for one month, assured me that March enters like a lion and leaves like a lamb...lamb please. Dateline Seattle, Monday March 9th...snow shrouded the greater Seattle area. glassybaby arithmetic #2...the end of March plus the sweetly scented, bird song, longer, warmer days of Spring equals lamb glassybaby.
If I sleuth through the web orders, there is always blog fertilizer within. The color combinations chosen often lead to swooning. Like the stunning combination of 8 celadon and 5 curry traveling to, none other than, a Central Park South address. Gorgeous. I would love to hand deliver this order just to glimpse the certain loveliness where the glassybaby will reside.
Other glassybaby minutes. Auction season is in full tilt and we have fashioned a great equation that we call 'rent to sell.' The concept is simple yet wordy. Here goes:
- rent glassybaby for $5 each
- sell glassybaby for $50 each
- waive the rental on any that sell
- make $12 on any that sell
- dine by the glowing light of glassybaby and receive a check for it...voila
I am forever impressed by the 'chairs' of these myriad auctions...they are generally women who are active, involved, organized and a bit beleaguered by the time the auction is over and they are returning glassybaby. Bless them. My current favorite rent to sell combination? A Bellevue school put together this vibrant, verdant mix of 228 glassybaby: chartreuse, mint, calgon, fertile, spring green, glacier lake, key lime, sour apple, new fern, lime, kelly and verdant. I know...ooo la la...no commissions required for replicating this order.
Lastly, two birthdays were celebrated recently in grand glassybaby style...we love it. Both birthdays were for youthful sexagenarians. A rental, hand picked by a stunning daughter for her mother, was shipped to the birthday party in Hawaii...swanky. Think navel, seattle sunset, true love, lifeguard, tutu and red licorice. Another party, hosted chez glassybaby Madrona, included twelve guests who joined us for a hands on glass blowing tutorial. They spent three hours here...each guest made some sort of maiden glass bauble. A scent of champagne was served in glassybaby drinkers. Light bites were provided and then they were off for the next installment of the birthday party, dining at one of our Seattle favorites, Monsoon...exquisite Pan Asian food. The restaurant glows in the light of glasybaby. Poetic. Happy Birthday on both scores.
Until Next Time, Nicola
