Ballet Synchronicity...Doggie Drinkers...Don't Forget Mom

   Swoosh...A Tuesday cab ride from downtown Seattle delivered us two charming glassybaby customers, a couple hailing from Minneapolis. The cab idled outside of our Madrona store as the couple unhurriedly began to select glassybaby color. Their Northwest trip was an express to find their seats at the Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB)...very stylish. They both revel in the beauty of dance...they gushed about the previous evening's ballet performance. And they are glass art collectors as well. PNB and glassybaby...their perfect trip duet.

   Obviously in the company of aesthetes, we began to pull color and candlelight together. After describing their living room rug, artwork and various gorgeous furniture pieces...the sublime and absolutely ethereal beauty of 4 lavender glassybaby brought the arrival of their purchase. A perfect, sophisticated, understated choice, deriven from careful selection. With many adieus...swoosh...the cab was downtown bound.

   And as synchronicity has it, the Pacific Northwest Ballet hosts a glassybaby event this Sunday at our Madrona studio. Various ballet patrons and enthusiasts have reserved a presence at our Madrona store for a ballet celebration of support and fund raising. Guests will mingle, sip libations, nibble on afternoon delectables, view glassblowing and choose a glassybaby to take home. PNB will raise valuable funds through ticket prices, all during this glassybaby afternoon loveliness. PNB is celebrated this week chez Madrona glassybaby.

   Honorable mentions of the week...the debuting of new glassybaby drinker colors. We can never forget the poochies that love us unconditionally and inspire glassybaby color. Paul, our not so new, worth gold, Production Manager, has a Chihuahua named "Juicy." We now have a drinker named "Juicy." And Karen, our not so new, worth gold, Operations Manager, has a dog named "Wasabi." Again, for the love of the dog...the "Wasabi" drinker is now available to you.

   Don't forget that Mother's Day is nigh...and glassybaby can deliver in color and meaning. Think....

glassybaby Magic...Not Such a Bad Day Mom

   It was my pleasure to greet 2 couples in our Madrona store. One couple was from Seattle, the other couple was from Chicago. I learned that the Chicagoans were scouting neighborhoods in Seattle, under the tutelage of their Seattle pals. glassybaby and Madrona were hot on the compass...I love it. The fellows entered with the dames, once shopping ensued, they chose to steal away, into the Seattle Spring elements...the ladies quipped: 'It's better this way.' As a talisman, for an imminent move to Seattle, Chicago shopper bought a beautiful Seattle Sunset glassybaby. Seattle shopper and docent, plucked the loveliness of Cabo for her choice. Our much treasured Molly, was in the store with me, she was able to encapsulate their purchases like this: 'The glassybaby are magical. The Seattle Sunset means you will move to Seattle and the Cabo means you are going on a trip.' Molly perfect. Seattle Sunset and Cabo perfect.  

   Another great glassybaby moment was conveyed to our, gold trust, Marissa, by our, gold trust, Kari. This is priceless. Kari works in our University Village Store and has a penchant for sharing great store tales with us. This is a blog writers dream. She recently conveyed this:

'A friend was having a lousy day and her son said: "Look on the bright side Mom, you've got two great kids and LOTS of glassybaby."'

The wisdom of children knows no bounds.

Roseburg, Oregon...Patron Saint...Diana

   Relationships define glassybaby in so many ways. One relationship is that which we have with the wonderful Diana Brown, who hails from Roseburg Oregon. This name may have a ring to it for you, she is a frequent fan, friend, contributor to our Facebook presence. Diana is a kind of patron, south-town, saint for us, and we always welcome her phone orders and ebullient emails to customer service.  

   Finally I got to meet her (see cute photo above.) She and her husband Steve made the I-5 exodus to our flagship store in Madrona. Dianna received an A+ during her Seattle Cancer Care Alliance check up. She is now 5 years strong...cancer free (hallelujah.) A car ride up the hill to glassybaby was a celebratory procession, with her husband Steve. I dove in as torch bearer for them...lighting glassybaby is a sacred passage...the top picks always emerge. It was such fun to help Diana and Steve. She always buys for others, but, as she quipped, light heartedly, in an email, her recipients must "be worthy." 

   Steve and Diana were fascinated by the process of making glassybaby. I stood shoulder to shoulder with them and gave the glassybaby 'crash course.' They are now versed in the birth of a glassybaby. It is sheer delight to share this with an interested and invested audience.

   Archival glassybaby t-shirts were dispensed to Diana and Steve. Lee was in...serendipitously...and gave a warm welcome to our Roseburg friends. The hour passed meaningfully and reminds my why we are....

Beeswax Is Here...Team Earth...Hudson Gives

   Spring is an auspicious time to announce that our signature glassybaby beeswax tealights are buzzing and now available for purchase. They are fantastic and naturally scented...no additives...a vague earthy hint of honey. They burn for 6 hours plus and are perfect for a dinner party. They are made locally by the famous Big Dipper candle makers. Insider glassybaby secret of the week...if you turn the beeswax box upside down...you will find a circular sticker that proclaims that the candles are: "100% Beeswax." Natural Beauty...Lisa

   If you think of a moon beam, or a rainbow, or the twinkling first star of the evening sky, or the magic of phosphorescence...if you think of any of these elemental, natural, beautiful things...you have thought of Lisa. Our beloved Lisa Thompson left us this last Friday for her next journey, beyond this life. She valiantly lived with ovarian cancer, and only let her cancer define her in terms of becoming a champion for its cause. She became a medium for its cure. Her signature trio of glassybaby is named "Marsha's Hope"...it was Lisa's explicit wish that proceeds from this glassybaby set would go to the Marsha Rivkin Ovarian Cancer Research Center. She ran, she blogged, she smiled and she spoke with her indomitable spirit, to give a voice to the important cause of ovarian cancer. And the fact is...she made a difference and will continue to. We can not forget a note, gilded in our minds, a thank you note from Lisa, who proclaimed herself a 'glassybaby angel.' A photograph preceded her incredible words of thanks. There was Lisa in a bright red, Cleopatra wig, wearing angel wings, holding a sign of thanks, her legs crossed over one another, her head tilted, her smile, a mile long. 

   We are indelibly touched by Lisa and feel her angel wings over us forever.
