Summer...Welcome...Party at 555 Hudson...Thank you

   Happy Summer...it is official. The solstice came and went...ushering in unfamiliar, Seattle magic...the sun. 

   This will be a smattering blog, Summer anecdotes, signature glassybaby.

 

First, we welcome Diana, above far right. She is the new and fabulous Manager of 555 Hudson, our New York Store. I will never tire of writing the words: "Our New York Store." The other three super models in the photo are, Marissa, far left, Allie, second from left and Christine, center. Marissa and Christine, from our top flight, Seattle glassybaby team, flew to New York City last week. They greeted Diana and helped to launch and host a swanky glassybaby evening party. Here is a view of the invitation and the party space to enjoy:

 
 

Wine and hors d'oeuvres were served. The courtyard in the back was an inviting extension to the party. The event twinkled with glassybaby everywhere, and it was our delight to welcome many and sundry New York luminaries. Not to mention any names, but the loveliness of Staphanie March (Law and Order) may have been in our midst. It was a gorgeous affair. Many kudos and thanks to Gina Hadley, our evening MVP...this was her event and a great success.

    Back to Seattle and endnote. Thank you to the hundreds of glassybaby, seconds pilgrims, who braved the drizzling, punishing, even winter-cold, rain, last Saturday, waiting for our 10 O'Clock doors to open. The Sale was a romp as usual, and an utter success. Word on the street...the first ladies in line, set up their encampment at 5:15am. We dispensed, calorie free, Krispy Kreme donuts. Lee's son, Cedie, and his posse, set up a coffee stand, raising a small purse to donate to the homeless. There was a bride, who's in line strategy, and the help from a friend, landed her 42 glassybaby seconds, that will light her forthcoming wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Everyone has a story and we love them all. Thanks for being there.

Father's Day Tale...Shared by Mom

   A lovely Tuesday customer entered our Madrona store. I greeted her in a whisper, I could see under the blanket of her front pack, two little dangling legs...my thinking...quiet papoose?...sleeping baby. His name is "Will," and Tuesday marked his 9th day in the world...'hanging out' with Mom at glassybaby. 

   Will's Mom, Stacey, was glassybaby mission specific. She was in for seven individually boxed Seattle Sunset, to be shipped to seven different addresses. Thank you cards were scribed to accompany each thank you package. The giving nature of Seattle Sunset, that 10% from purchases is donated to The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, was a key element to her color choice. And then I learned more...

   Stacey's husband, John, had sleuthed a meaningful surprise. He had seven dear friends fly in to Seattle, to celebrate Stacey's 5th year in remission from cancer. This incredible reunion and celebration coincided with the perfectly timed arrival of Will on the scene...their second, adopted child, a.k.a. bundle of joy. Will's arrival also meant that Stacey's parents were in town. As Stacey described this signature convergence of life affirming celebration, it struck me as the perfect Father's Day message.

   I learned of a dad's exquisite balance...in welcoming a son, loving a daughter, honoring the life force of his betrothed, amidst the presence of generations and deep friendship. Beautiful paternity.

Luncheon Loveliness... Happiness...Sunshine-ness...Please?

     On Wednesday, Judi Westlund and three fellow guild members strode into our Madrona location at 9:30am, prepared to choreograph and seamlessly execute the most lovely luncheon...ever. Just look at the photographs above...loveliness beyond, beyond.

   Sixteen guests arrived at 11:30 am for their glassybaby luncheon event. Each guest had generously remitted a ticket price....which Judi and Co. had generously remitted to their guild...raising important funds for The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. I think that a list, bulleting details of their epically beautiful event, will simply...invite you to the party:

• to begin...crisp white wine or sparkling water...was served in glassybaby drinkers of 16 different colors
• seasoned cashews and a cheesy savory of some sort was served
• a brief talk was given on the life story of glassybaby
• the ladies retired to the lunch table ...lined with glassybaby, sweetly bursting with the vase detail of peonies and roses
• party favors greeted the guests...an empty glassybaby box...waiting for a single glassybaby to be chosen...custom calligraphy on the message
• the menu...home made soup, fresh, warm, doughy rolls, a salad trio, which involved a radicchio garnish, chocolates, freshly brewed coffee...and my personal favorite...butter pats in the form of roses and bumble bees...you get the idea

It was a beautiful event for an important cause. It was wonderful for us to have a bird's eye view. 

End note....the ladies shopped after lunch...a second dessert...and glassybaby will donate 10% from their purchases  to the Fred Hutchinson Guild...our delight.

   Another end note. The sound bite of the week from our Madrona environs went like this:

Kim: Paul?

Paul: Yes Kim.

Kim: Can I order some Happiness? (glassybaby color)

Paul: Of course you can.

Mind wish of the week, in pretend conversation:

Nic: Paul?

Paul: Yes Nic.

Nic: Can I order some Sunshine? (glassybaby color)...not the glassybaby kind.

Paul: Of course you can.

And the sun came out thanks to Paul.
