The dog days of Summer are here...we love the fahrenheit...it is beyond gorgeous and warm...much warmer than the Winter of our June. A quick internet search led me to this definition of " The dog days of Summer":
"The period between early July and early September, when the hot, sultry weather of Summer usually occurs in the northern hemisphere."
We have arrived. And in celebration of sultry and our beloved dogs and the August days that pass dreamily by...we are offering free shipping on any web order of three glassybaby or more during the entire month of August. Let your friends know...the airfare is on us. Thanks in advance to the dedicated muscles of our handsome UPS drivers. We expect a crush...thanks for participating.
Another, Summer, honorable mention...Amara, our amazing Madrona neighbor, is an incredible adoption institution. Their mission as stated on their website (http://www.amaraparenting.org/about-us)is this:
"Amara partners with birth, foster and adoptive parents to create and support stable, loving homes for vulnerable children."
Last Thursday Amara hosted a reception for donors, supporters, volunteers, families and more at our glassybaby Madrona studio (see photo loveliness above.) It was an evening to celebrate the mission of Amara and the people that give soul to that mission. Movingly...an alumnus of foster care, an adoptive parent and an Amara Board member , named Jason, offered these words on the night of the event:
"Support from people in our community- as donors, adoptive parents, volunteers, mentors and teachers- is what makes permanency possible for children in foster care. And, once a child has found safety and stability, they are no longer surviving- they are thriving."
What profound words...an amazing testimonial to the power of our neighbor Amara. It was our honor to support this wonderful evening, an evening that took shape in the glorious Summer heat, with glassybaby aglow, to the din of the local jazz band, Mutha Hoopla....with lovely bites provided by the Madrona restaurant community, in donation. The restaurants included (in alphabetical order): Bistro Turkuaz, Dulces Latin Bistro, Hi Spot Cafe, Madrona Pub, Naam Thai Cusine and St. Clouds.
It took a Madrona Village...we are a lucky and wonderful community.
More Soon...We hope that you are Summer thriving, Nicola
