Happy July..it is here in all of its sweltering glory. The glass blowers are working to the Charlie Brown theme song right now. Seattle is going to kiss the low 90's today, the blowers are working before 2000 degree furnaces...and Charlie Brown Jazz seems to be the perfect lightness and music elixir needed. Hand blown glasses of cold water abound. And thanks to Ryan Mellinger, I have a hand blown glass to imbibe from...in style. I made chocolate chip cookies last week for our 'team awesome' and Ry thanked me with this beautiful glass. I love it and its flame motif. Thanks Ryan. And thanks forever to our glass blowers who work in front of an inferno on inferno days.
Our web orders hold really sweet summer missives as glassybaby are dispensed as thank you gifts for visiting beach cabins and remote lake cottages. One message of this sort went like this:
"Thank you so much for having us Washington gals out to the lake and thanks for the fun boat ride."
The glassybaby sent?....Mountain Lake...perfect.
Last week, as the 4th of July drew near, we had the pleasure of welcoming a couple from out of town, accompanied by their Seattlite daughter. They relished their time in our store, watching glassybaby being made and carefully choosing an important single glassybaby. The gift would be an integral part of a care package being sent to their son in Afghanistan. He is serving there...training Afghan police. Poignantly, they chose the color Hide and Seek. This struck us as the perfect wind up to the 4th...the day we collectively transcend to celebrate our independence and give thanks to all who serve in our name. Godspeed to this son and his parents and his sister.
More Soon, Nicola
