Hummingbird...Baptismal and Mermaid Mantels

   I was sitting in our garden (generous term,) when a little hummingbird helicoptered in, right before me...we met eye to eye and in a hummingbird nanosecond, he spun 180 degrees and, I'm convinced, flew off to Mexico. Happy Fall...we have arrived and so have the rains. 

   Who can resist a flank of mantel glassybaby alternating daisies with candles? Since torrential rains have arrived here...we relish this kind of glassybaby photo share.

Kate's email message went like this:

"I just had to share how much my family loves your glassybaby! Recently, we hosted a reception for our daughter, Avary's, baptism. I placed 5 glassybaby on our mantel: using creme brulee, burnt sugar and Jane's caramel as vases and 2 angel for light. I loved it! My glassybaby make any occasion feel special."

Congratulations to Avary on the occasion of her baptism. Thanks Kate...a simply divine photo and message.

   Another mantel photograph to share. The message paired with this absolutely lovely mermaid photo went like this:

"Not quite out of boxes yet, but my glssybaby sure look pretty and help me relax...ommm."

Good luck unpacking to this sweet customer. We like your style and priorities. A guess on colors, left to right...great oak, sea foam, angel, elephant, celadon, sea foam, burnt sugar...swimmingly beautiful.

Tweet For Treats...And Other Whimsy

   It is official, we have a 'treats for tweets' box (Debra brilliance rides eternal.) Here is the idea...any of us, glassybaby tribal members, may approach the box, conveniently placed on Marissa's desk, dash off a tweet notion on tweet scratch paper and receive a chocolatey treat. We have had a spate of recent tweet/treat offenses. Just this week, Phil, our color man, flagrantly pilfered multiple treats right in front of Marissa, Paul, Valerie and me...multiple witnessing of this reprobate behavior. Phil agreed to this mug shot:

   Recently, a pod of kids, thespian, summer campers, hailing from Epiphany, our neighbor, came in to Madrona for a glassybaby tour. The age range was marvelous...from pints to quarts. We received wide eyes and total interest as the tour ensued. These kids were fully engaged in learning the glassybaby story, and learning about the process of crafting a glassybaby. Stylishly, we received a stack of Thank You letters with thoughtful text and original artwork. Here are two of our favorites. Who can resist horse art and caption bubbles that exclaim "cool" and "wow."

   End note. Surveying web orders is always rich. A single order will tell a unique story...one recently caught my eye. A gentleman customer was ordering the molten gift set named "red hot love" (red rose, ferrari and lipstick.) The note attached?...so sweet: "For our new home together."

Farewell...Hello...Glorious (Halloween) Treats...Animal Mentions

   Our lovely Gina, sent us this Summer cabin photograph...the white duvets rolled up in this patriotic little slice of heaven struck me as a salute and farewell to Summer. The red, white and blue glassybaby (my guess: pretty, hope and blue bird) will be lit now to welcome the Autumnal equinox. September recipe: book, bed, glassybaby. Welcome Fall.

Pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting...flanked by various orange and white glassybaby...think pumpkin, tangerine, pearl...delicious. Our thanks to Glory for this stroke of Halloween chic that includes the candle light of glassybaby.

    Meet Dulce (left)also known as El Diablo Blanco and his side kick, in dog stroller, Charlie Brown, also known as Sir Charles (hence, his chariot.) Preceding these sweet rescue poochies are their glassybaby corollaries. Dulce (more Diablo than Dulce) is matched with halo (funny) and Charlie Brown is matched with burnt sugar. Katrin, dog mom, and glassybaby life-er, was in our store to discuss creating auction items for her various animal rescue causes....she is a dedicated volunteer at Old Dog Haven in Everett. She will create two unique auction items that include Hands On Glass Blowing at glassybaby Madrona....what dedication to her cause and creative fundraising. In addition to Dulce and Charlie Brown...Katrin has 4 more, sweet and elderly, rescue canines at her home...including her Chihuahua named Smoochie...blogged about earlier and still a glassybaby poster-dog. We love our dogs and thanks to Katrin for making glassybaby a part of your rescue dog mission.

   End note...and equal time for cats...who can resist this glamor shot of Appollo, in the sink, by a glassybaby, with a beaded necklace on? I honestly believe there is nothing else to say than: "meow."

Periwinkle for Mom...Wavemakers...More Messages Like Lisa's

 

   Sweetness incarnate came in to our Madrona store on Tuesday...which leads to a great glassybaby tale. A.J., almost a decade old, was enjoying a Hi Spot lunch with her mom, brother and sister, a lunch celebrating Mom's birthday. A.J. was able to stealthily leave the table, mission bound for glassybaby, just around the corner from the delicious Hi Spot. Her lunch table was left unaware of the glassybaby mission. Once at glassybaby, A.J. made the express and refined decision to purchase a single periwinkle glassybaby for her mom. With various derivations of dollar currency dispensed from her wallet...saved up...the purchase was complete. Back to the Hi Spot with a quickness, A.J. was able to present her gift to the surprise and utter delight of her Mom (we learned that her mom has always wanted a glassybaby.) Post lunch...Mom and kids stopped in to glassybaby for a twirl through color. The mom held up her bag and said: 'We are just looking, I already have mine.' And with that, the gift tale unfolded.    We also love that we are associated with a team called "The Wavemakers." For the second year in a row, we have joined forces and waves with a Swim Across America Team. Susan Mayfield, our SAA partner and kindred spirit, describes poignantly that she swims: "...in memory of my dad and Tyler's (my husband's) mom," Her team is a familial stroke of five... seen in the photo above. This year's swim begins in the early dawn on Saturday September 11th at Luther Burbank Swim Beach. There are still openings for swimmers, kyaks and boats...join this amazing event...proceeds will support cancer research at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. 

   End note... in the spirit of research and the possibility of cancer survivorship that comes from valuable research dollars...we received this rejoicing note attached to an order:

"Mama, I am sending you this gift to say CONGRATULATIONS for KICKING CANCER'S ASS as of one year ago this month! Light this candle holder in the kitchen while it is dark and you are watching TV. These things have such an amazing glow! I know you'll enjoy it and I hope it reminds you that I am always around. I love you. Thanks for setting such a brave example and positive outlook. I will never forget it. Love, Lisa"
