Glance Back...New Sets, New Year...Get Ready Get Set...Seconds

   Living in Pasedena has always been, to me, synonymous with having good taste. Once again...theory proven. Let the photo above, a glance back to December, bask you in warmth, good taste and glassybaby light. Our friend, Paul Coates, of City Farm (http://cityfarm.us/wordpress/) had a holiday party lit by hundreds of glassybaby in Pasedena. He soldiered on with the party despite biblical,Southern California, rains. An excerpt from his blog installment entitled: "glassybaby Cometh," went, charmingly, like this:

"My strength for the upcoming holiday Management Company City Farm party arrived today...in the hands of the trusty United Parcel Service.

...The power of light that comes from these special things is awesome, humbling and energizing and words just don't convey their simple, powerful glow! Bring on the rain! Bring on the storm! BRING IT, M. NATURE, glassybaby will light the way!"

We are working at a briskness...an exciting briskness...and our inventory is dwindling; however we have double shifts working daily to stay the attrition. If you find color online, rest assured, we will send it to you. And you will find plenty of color in our stores. Thanks for giving the gift of light.

 

   A warm welcome to Ed Ives, who has joined our New York City, Hudson glassybaby team (see, slightly blurry, I Phone, photo above.) The Hudson Store light bulbs and glassybaby are burning a little brighter...simply because Ed has arrived. Fun facts to share about Ed:

• he was born and raised in Bedford, New York...the same Bedford of our Bedford Brown glassybaby...swanky Eastern hamlet
• he became a childhood friend of Lee's upon a move to the West Coast
• he holds both gold and silver medals for feats, respectively, in the Goodwill Games and Olympics rowing competitions
• he skates to work...destination 555 Hudson glassybaby
• he hands out glassybaby story cards at opportune moments like whe he is in line for coffee
• he is 7 feet tall...and has a teenage daughter who is 6 foot 1 inch
• he is cherished by glassybaby...for the 'wing and a prayer' that landed him in our New York Store...a serendipity that is signature glassybaby

   Back at home base...at the Madrona Mothership...our Shipping Manager, Kim, has proven once again that she is indeed super human. She works at mach speed, tirelessly, with her trained team of glassybaby elves...2 Nicks, a Lindsey and an Alex. Our shipping team can move mountains...mountains of glassybaby. We are in awe of them and thank them. 

 

   Endnote...we announce the arrival of, a precious, not to be duplicated, glassybaby...color name? Finn. Our Production Manager, Paul Cunningham, and his beyond lovely wife, Kate...welcomed, into the world, their son, Finn Thorbeck Cunningham, born December 4th, 2010. He is perfect, a great glassybaby glower.

Hudson Holiday...glassybaby Power Shopping...glassybaby Super Power Shopping

   Lee is in New York City, at our Hudson Store, helping to illuminate it, which happens the minute she steps through the front door. We just received a photo of the NYC storefront in all of its glassybaby holiday glory...love from Lee...enjoy. And there is still time to book a round trip ticket to the Big Apple for holiday shopping at our Hudson location, followed by a hot toddy at the famous White Horse Tavern, that shares the block with us.

   Store anecdotes are ever-brilliant right now. The holiday swirl is on...and we get to listen in. Annjette, one of our Madrona, sales, crown jewels, provided this store tale. There is a gorgeous posse of women friends who have created a secret shopping society that prominently includes glassybaby shopping as well as distinct tequilla rituals. The ladies, Marge, Debbie, Donna and Susanne...ferry over from Bainbridge Island. They shop at glassybaby Madrona...our epicenter...then, they head, expressly, downtown for more shopping. Liquid courage in the form of tequilla is sought at the Nordstrom's Bar (my idea of heaven on earth)...one shot is administered to each shopper at exactly 5pm...
5pm on the dot...do not drop your purse, do not shed your coat, 'bottoms up.'These ladies have style. After shopping success and nourishment somewhere...they lay their heads down on a fluffy pillow, hotel-somewhere in Seattle and fall to sleep (maybe by glassybaby candle light)...mission accomplished. Their glassybaby trove of color included:

• joy
• remembrance
• hope
• candy
• friendship

Friendship had to be included...we love our part in this signature holiday tradtion.

   The next great store passage was conveyed to me by our new, and already treasured, Cristi. This is super power shopping at it's best...a wonderful customer, hailing from Pleasantville, California, flew to Portland, rented a car, drove to Madrona, purchased 51 glassybaby for gifts and for her homes, spent the night in the Seattle Westin, drove south to catch her plane home...glassybaby hand picked, power shopped. Thanks so much for your visit Sherri...thanks for raising the bar. 

  Ferries...planes...I will not be surprised by a hot air balloon delivering shoppers. Thanks for shopping and giving light.

Artisans Art Sale...Photos Shared...Patti Shaw's Art+glassybaby Metal

 
   If you are local...join us this Saturday, December 4th, 10am-4pm, at our Madrona studio, to support our glass blowers. They are hosting a sale of their own works of glass art. There will be gorgeous glass earrings on silver hooks, goblets that transport you to Venice, vases and vessels that beg for a custom made vitrine and a spotlight in your living room. It will be marvelous and you can bring your wishlist of glassybaby color too. Our store will be open of course. A scheduled eggnog or gingerbread latte at the Hispot first...is always a good idea.

   December has arrived...it is a thrill ride here...I love that holiday photographs are couriered to us from customers...letting us know where their glassybaby are warming...this is such a charming holiday tradition, volunteered to us.

 

Cornelia sent us this stunner...her signature glassybaby, advent wreath. I am personally in love with the snowballs that have faces...or perhaps they are plump birds? Either way...lovely display. Thanks Cornelia.

 

Just today, Denise took the time to send us this photograph of 'comfort and joy'...her daughter Jenna snapped this lovely mantle shot of their glassybaby line up, while strategizing where to place her stocking. Thanks Denise and Jenna...great, joyous shot.

  
   Endnote... abundant and wonderful to share...Patti Shaw, a local and brilliant artist, visited our University Village Store. Her keen eye and art sleuthing sensibility...led her to ask if she could recycle, into art, our aluminum tea light reservoirs that are normally discarded once our tea lights burn out. It was our delight to squirrel away a cache of these metal bits for Patti...which are now in her possession, destined for Patti Shaw artful, greatness.
