Everyone, and I mean everyone, needs a little "smooch" for the winter blahs.
Some may even think February is "the cruelest month" (not April, as has been said)...at least weather wise...at least this year!
But February, no matter what, has always been to me the month of spreading love, and feeling loved...the month of reciprocating for gifts of kindness bestowed by those we care about.
And to glassybaby, that means wondrous new goodwill colors.
glassybaby is pleased to be donating 10% of "smooch" sales in February to the Seattle Children’s Hospital Family Resource Center. This peaceful place is a refuge for weary families whose cherished little ones are being cared for. Here visitors can relax, catch a nap, go online, read, and even have a shower or a massage...a haven during stressful times.
This goodwill color honors a very special little girl, Charlotte "Cha Cha" Sutphen, who spent much of her life at Children’s. Her mom, Angie, and her family appreciated the TLC they felt while visiting the Center. It was "away" but not too far away.
Cha Cha was a girly girl. To Angie, "everything about Cha Cha was pink. She wore it, her bedding was pink, her dolly lamba was pink, and she, like a candle, spread so much light, soft and pink."
She would have loved "smooch." It is the essence of pinkness and light.
On September 14, 2010, Cha Cha died peacefully being held and kissed. She was only eight.
A port in the storm is what we all would wish for. And 10% of the proceeds from our new goodwill set, "refuge" helps provide just that for Cancer Lifeline.
Sometimes I wonder, just what would we do if a member of the family were presented with a serious illness, and we had no means to be close by or to offer support? Cancer Lifeline’s Patient Assistance Fund not only helps to comfort patients, but their families as well. glassybaby is spirited in its desire to aid Cancer Lifeline in supplying what is most needed to accomplish those ends. A little refuge is a good thing.
Wow! When I think of "fortitude" I conjure up the image of the two stately marble lions: Patience and his associate Fortitude guarding the steps of the New York Public Library at 42nd Street. If you haven’t seen those rock-stars, you absolutely should! They are remarkable, and make you smile, especially when you think of how iconic and stalwart they are!
The new glassybaby goodwill color,"fortitude," brings to mind the many people who have the strength to encounter the adversity of multiple sclerosis with courage. Ten percent of the sales of this gorgeous, intense yet subtle, blue glassybaby will go to support those living with this disease. And specifically, it will go to the National MS Society.
Next week, I believe some "happiness" will be coming your way. And perhaps a "first kiss" or even some "true love" and something you gotta have: miles and miles and miles of "heart"! We may throw in a little "chocolate" too, for your sweetie.
Thank you all for reading here, and thank you for being a member of our glassybaby community.
Here’s a big February smooch to you and to my Ernie, too.
Until next time,
Alice
