Love is still in the air!
"I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes."
The chickadees at the bird feeder are making goo goo eyes at each other over the suet. The crows have stopped chasing eagles long enough to notice the tall, dark and handsome ("Well hello there!") visage that shares the bough.
And speaking of love, pre Valentines Day sales put us a little low on our supply of "love" glassybaby. Our glassblowing artists were dedicated to making "love" feverishly, with only the occasional break.
Wonderful stories abounded at the stores during Valentine’s week: cheerful voices and hearts as gentlemen (especially) chose glassybaby for their sweethearts. They became glassybaby connoisseurs as they lit first one, then another to find the perfect combination of love’s light.
Tracy, our manager at the Bellevue store, told an especially touching story of a man who came in to purchase a glassybaby for his wife of twenty-four years. As he ruminated over which to buy, he offered a moving commentary on the joy of longevity of marriage. He said that couples should not give up on their marriages too soon,if they hit a rift, because they might miss "the miracle."
I have to say, I just love that.
In closing, I have to tell you about the lady who walked into our store and said, "I am just so happy to be here! I was smiling the whole way here in the car!" I hear you, sister! That about sums up my feelings about working at glassybaby.
"Love is all around."
Until next time,
