Every once in a while, Alice takes a break...washes her car, empties the dishwasher, shovels the walkways (especially this week in Seattle!)...and that’s when we step in. And it’s kind of fun, and definitely better than heaving snow around.
The news this week is that we’re busy "making babies"! We love our glass artists, all 40-something of them. Lately, they are diligently & musically working around the clock, every day of the week, to re-fill our store and warehouse shelves with a rainbow of glowing glassybaby.
And as the glassblowers craft each unique glassybaby and carefully place it in the annealer to cool, we reflect on what else we love:
...that each glassybaby is made by hand, in our Madrona studio, in the USA.
...that it takes a team of four glass artists to create and hand-trim each one.
...And that the final step of making a glassybaby is when the glassblower uses a custom-made brass tool to stamp "glassybaby" onto the bottom of each one, marking it as genuine.

P.S. We leave Alice’s picture up because we think she’s lovely, inside and out.
