It's that time of year... Final projects, field trips, exams. Students are feeling the pressures of finishing up the school year, while many of us are feeling nostalgic for our own school days. But more than that, we are feeling grateful for all we learned and especially, how we were encouraged to continue as learners throughout our lives. What would we do without teachers?
They inspire us, give us wings and thoughts that soar. "given to fly"...
They teach us the importance and joy of coloring both in and outside the lines. "crayola"...
They let us know that we can be anything we want to be, that we can make it anywhere. "big apple"...
For opening our minds, our eyes, our hearts, we thank them. "gratitude"...
Happy news: On May 19, Lee will receive the “It’s Always Something” award from Gilda’s Club New York City, at a luncheon celebrating women working and living with cancer. Across the country, Gilda’s Clubs are places where people living with cancer can be at home. They were named in remembrance of Gilda Radner, the beloved comedian who died of ovarian cancer in 1989, and who once said that people who have cancer are part of the same club.
Most appropriately, "happiness" is the Gilda's Club NYC goodwill color: 10% of its sales go back to support that club's good work. Lee is deeply grateful for the recognition, but proud most of all that glassybaby can help Gilda's Club continue spreading a little light.
Indeed, it's always something.
Love,
the glassybaby team
