"Summertime... and the livin' is easy."
I'm almost afraid to say it, just in case I jinx it weather-wise, but I believe it's finally summer in Seattle!! For one thing, the livin' certainly has been easy recently: street fairs, nighttime swimming escapades, outdoor musical performances, sitting on the porch rocking babies, lawn games and hula hoops in the late evening light... and guess what! We have no mosquitoes! How can this be? Having moved from New England many moons ago, we have never been able to figure out why those pesky little guys aren't here, at least in our area of town. (And we don't have snakes to speak of in Seattle either. And being a Nashville native... I can really appreciate that! But that's another story.)
What I especially do have is tons of appreciation for our glassybaby blog readers and supporters. Thank you so much. It makes my day to know you are there. I would love to hear some of your glassybaby tales.
Jacque from the Bellevue store told me of a lovely customer who was looking for three pink glassybaby to share with her group of friends who were living in separate cities. After shopping for several minutes she kindly shared the story behind her visit: one of her best friends, who is living in Hawaii, is battling cancer. The devoted friends plan to light their glassybaby as a symbol of support and unity while she is undergoing chemotherapy. The power and glow of close friendship and glassybaby.
Lindsey tells of a thoughtful customer who bought a 'joy' a 'remembrance' and a 'regal' for a friend who had just passed her US Citizenship test. The friend, who was from Canada, had lived here forever and had finally decided to become a citizen just in time for the Fourth of July. Welcome, and hooray for the red, white and blue!
We are so proud of our owner and founder, Lee Rhodes. She is sharing throughout the airwaves the glassybaby story of charity, community and love's light.
On Thursday morning, she shone on Good Day New York in the Big Apple. The table of splendid glassybaby simply glowed as well when they turned down the studio lights.
Have a great week and perhaps get out to a U-pick with the kids for some strawberries, raspberries, and maybe even some blueberries. We love to serve them in glassybaby. And who's in the mood to put up some jam? I haven't done that in ages! It's fun to do and so nice to open a little pot of summer when the winter winds blow. Now, where did I put those mason jars?
Thanks so much for being here.
Until later,
Alice
